It is with much sadness that I report that Chief Officer James (Jim) M Roe RFA (Retd) Crossed the Bar on 29th October aged 71. This was reported to me by John (Sid) Kempton.

CTBFormer RFA Chief Officer (X) Jim (James) Roe crossed the bar on 29 October aged 71 after a long struggle with cancer.  Jim, who incidentally never joined the Association, was medically retired from the service in the 1980s and subsequently worked for the Prison Service and later the Met Office as Port Met Officer, Southampton.  When the Southampton job became defunct, Jim closed the office and retired himself in the mid 1990s.  Once retired, Jim and his wife Marianne moved to a little hamlet in La Chapelle-Neuve, Brittany.
A funeral service followed by a private family cremation will be held in Brittany on 2 November followed by an internment in the UK at a later date to be confirmed once arrangements can be made. When details are available, these will be promulgated.
James not only leaves behind his wife Marianne but also sons James and Thomas and his grandson Dominic.
Good sailing James.
Yours Aye
Sid
