Dear Member,

With the current COVID 19 restrictions in place it is now apparent that the AGM and Reunion Dinner cannot take place in the normal way and is very regrettably CANCELLED.

In order to meet the Charity Commission's requirements the AGM will be achieved by electronic means.  The mechanism, for which, will be advised to those who indicated they would attend in person to cast their ballots.  Those who have sent their postal ballot need do nothing.  The annual reports will be available on our website.

Those who indicated that they would have attended the dinner will receive a separate email.

I would like to thank all of you who donated to the Association either as a direct donation or donating their dinner booking fee.  Thank you all.  As you can guess raising funds this year has been less than optimal.  That said, many of our Golf Tournament sponsors have made generous donations although the tournament is also cancelled.  I won't pre-empt the Treasurer, but we hope to nearly break even this financial year.

On an even brighter note, I look forward to seeing many of you at the the 2021 AGM & Reunion Dinner in Portsmouth.

Best wishes and stay safe,
Ray

ctbIt is with so much sadness that I report,  that First Officer(SE)  Barry Hayes RFA(Retd) has crossed the bar aged 70 on Monday 28th September 2020.

His private funeral (because of Covid restrictions) will be held at Blacon Crematorium (HERE for their website and HERE for a map) at 11:20 on the 14th October 2020.

The arrangements are being made by G&M Goold (HERE for their website and HERE for a map)

Barry was not a member of our Association but was, of course, a part of the extended RFA Family.

I have no more information at the moment but will, of course, sitrep this page with any updates.

On behalf of the RFA Association I offer our sincere condolences to his wife Carol, sons Barry, Sam Lewis and all his family

If you have any remembrances of Barry please email it to me at captain.pat@rfa-association.org.uk and I will post them on this page. Alternatively you can post to our facebook page "RFA Crossed the Bar". I am also looking for photographs of Barry for this piece and the RFA Association Gallery and Archive, if you have one please email it to me.

RFAA Golf 2020

TGolfhe RFAA Golf Tournament due to be held at Waterlooville Golf Club in July was moved to 8th October due to the Covid 19 restrictions. Following a further review and discussions with Waterlooville it became clear that they could only offer coffee and bacon roll with no evening dinner. Having consulted with our industry sponsors it has now been agreed that with these restrictions, poorer weather and the fear of another Covid spike in the autumn, this year's competition will be cancelled. We apologise for the disappointment this will cause.
